A rainy night, a SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!!!

Tonight’s song comes from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and can be heard in the hands of all the characters or on Mario Bros. stage. That’s right, it’s the Wrecking Crew!

The best part about picking up that Golden Hammer is not gaining the power to mercilessly crush your foes; it’s the tune that plays! The Wrecking Crew theme is pure 8-bit bliss, sporting a bass line that runs through the jam like a river.

Blast this jam, and begin to WRECK!

UPDATE: I’m sorry I haven’t been reblogging stuff that much lately, I’ve been quite distracted. I just bought Pokemon White (which I’m not too fond of) and my school year is just around the corner. To those who follow, I apologize, but my once-a-week flurry of reblogs may only occur bi-weekly. Now that THAT’s out of the way…

It’s time for a late edition of SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!!!

This week’s song is Forest of Hope from Pikmin on the Gamecube! It made it’s smash debut on the Distant Planet stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

This tune is quite soothing, and I figured it was time to show Captain Olimar a little love. This is the kind of tune that makes you want to lay back and take a good snooze. Although, it also works as an ass-kicking melody.

Enjoy the hope that I am giving ya, and have a smashtastic Saturday!!!

Weekend=time for Super Smash Bros. SATURDAY!!!

This week we have a tune that came from Mother 3, also known as the Earthbound series in America. Tis the Love Theme, and is featured on the New Pork City stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

This one is a much smoother jam, but it’s got a good beat that perpetuates the listener through the tune. The bass line is what really hooks me into it!

Have a smashtaaaastic day!

Weekend time, time for SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!

This week I’m finally showing the Cap a little love. It’s a gem that dates back to old school game, F-Zero. The song is White Land, and it made it’s Smash appearance on the Port Town Aero Drive Stage in Brawl.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the F-Zero series. Not only that, but I feel that most of the songs used on Captain Falcon’s stages are kinda shitty. But there are exceptions, and White Land is one of them. The synth work in this tune is quick and precise, and it works like a charm to capture the intensity of the stage.

Blast that electric music, and have a smash-tastic day!

Alas, it is Saturday. So quit being bummed the fuck out and get PUMPED for SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!!!

This week’s song is Midna’s Lament, which was first featured in The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess. You can here this song on the Eldin Bridge stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

This song…is fucking beautiful. The song is the epitome of sadness and desperation, and fit perfectly within the context of Twilight Princess. I nearly cried during that part of the game, and then they put the tune in Brawl, and allowed me to beat the shit out of people to it. A genius piece from Koji Kondo, the piano lament is beautiful yet tragic.

Now enough of that shit, BLAST THIS TUNE AND WHOOP SOME HEADS! And again, have a smash-tastic day!

Another Saturday, another SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!

This week I’m gonna kick it up and listen to some smooth-ass jam. The tune is Snake Eater (Instrumental, of course), and it’s as smooth as you can get. The song was originally in Metal Gear Solid 3, but Brawl decided to take out the lyrics (whatevs). Snake Eater is featured on the Shadow Moses stage, Solid Snake’s home turf.

This song…is the shit. The drums, the bass, the guitar, the violins, the TRUMPETS. Fuck. I love this song, and if you don’t love it then you’re probably just a Communist scumbag. The original version is good, but the instrumental allows the listener to focus on what makes this song fucking fantastic: the instruments (obviously).

Put this on repeat and your day will be SMASH-TASTIC!

Another (albeit unimportant) installment of SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!!!

Today’s song is called Flat Zone 2 (or Game and Watch, depending on where you get the file) and is featured on the Flat Zone 2 stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl! The original mix of the song appeared in the Game and Watch Gallery.

This song is the perfect example of how to properly remix a classic tune. It’s use of beeps and buzzers embody the classic G&W handhelds, but the organization and structure of the tune screams new age techno.

Put this tune on, kick back, and have a Smashtastic Satuday!

It’s a little late, but it’s time for SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!!!

Today’s tune is the Warioware, Inc. Medley from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It can be heard on the WarioWare stage, and was originally seen in the game WarioWare, Inc.:Mega Microgame$!

This fun collection of sound clips does the stage justice. As if the stage transforming into random minigames wasn’t enough, this song adds even more confusion and hilarity to the mayhem. The shifting tunes don’t always suit each stage transformation, but because of the wacky nature of the stage it tends to work wonders.

Pop this jam on and bust a move, WARIO-style!

And have a SMASH-tastic weekend!

This week we have the song Power-Hungry Fool! The song was originally in the game Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, but it made its debut in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, playing in the Castle Siege stage.

This song is great because it reminds one of the old , victorian times. The piano and violins work well to give off a very bohemian feel, but moves fast so you can enjoy your battle. I’ve never played any Fire Emblems, but with songs like these I may try my luck.

Kick back, enjoy the jam, and have a Smash-tastic day!

Saturday:check. Good music:check. It’s SUPER SMASH BROS. SATURDAY!!!

Today’s tune is Skyworld from the Kid Icarus game on the NES. Of course this version is overhauled and remixed, but it does the 8-bit version justice. The song is featured in Brawl on Pit’s (that fucking asshole) stage, Skyworld!

I’ve always enjoyed this song because of its fast pace and ridiculous flutes. Pit may be a douchebag character, and his stage may be a pain in the fucking ass with all the disappearing platforms and ceilings traps and fucking FUCKery, but the music is nice!

Have a smash-tastic day!
